Lawsuits
Below is more information regarding current lawsuits against drug companies. Some
of them are class action lawsuits. If you have taken some of the drugs mentioned
you might need to contact an attorney to see if the lawsuit pertains to you. Also
be sure to visit a doctor to make sure you do not have any of the symptoms caused
by the prescription and and over the counter drugs.
Serzone
Serzone has been taken off the market in all European countries because it has been linked to 26 deaths from liver damage.
This follows a black box warning issued by the FDA in 2001.
The Food and Drug Administration has notified Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. that it must include
a warning on its label for the antidepressant Serzone advising patients that rare but
possibly life-threatening liver failure can occur with use of the drug.
Serzone, the brand name for "nefazodone," is linked to dozens of liver failures including at least 21 deaths in the U.S., reports CBS News Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson.
But here in the U.S., Serzone and the generic nefazodone remain on pharmacy shelves.
Consumer advocates petitioned the FDA to ban the drug a year ago. But after no action, they're now suing the FDA to try to get it off the market. Will be interesting to see what happens with this Serzone lawsuit.
